Message success. I tried several including the MT but best success with the Royal Purple 75w-90 gear oil (pricy). My tranny must be particular.

If you do the rear make sure the gear oil is spec GL5 nothing less. MT90 is a GL4 not made for rear ends.

Grinding is the gear teeth not meshing well because the synchros were not properly lining up the gears. Grinding makes metal particles in the oil. Change oil but remove the fill plug first, if that is not successful then at least you still have fluid in there. Tranny takes 3 quarts, easier to fill from top side in the engine bay by the battery using a long hose into the tranny and a funnel top side.
